Novak Djokovic Loses His Temper As He Crashed Out Of Shanghai Masters

Novak Djokovic couldn’t quite contain his emotions Saturday during his tough semifinal match at the Shanghai Masters.

The world’s top-ranked tennis player smashed his racket and ripped his shirt during a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut.

Novak smashes racket

It wasn’t pretty.

Djokovic grabbed a towel and swept away his racket splinters after he lost the first set, but the damage (literally and figuratively) was done. He was unable to rally in the second set, putting Bautista Agut in the final match.

The shirt ripping came later, when he hit a forehand into the net.

Guardiola Concerned About City’s Confidence Ahead of Barca Clash

Pep Guardiola conceded Manchester City’s confidence may be cause for concern amid a stuttering run of form as it prepares to face Barcelona in the Champions League.

City’s winless run extended to three matches in all competitions following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Everton in the Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero both missed penalties in the stalemate, and as Guardiola prepares for a reunion with former club Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday, the Spanish manager has some worries.

“Maybe. If you analyze the three results where we haven’t won, I try to analyze why we didn’t win,” Guardiola said when asked if City’s confidence had dipped. “That is my job. So of course the confidence and the mood is much better when you win.

“But we are professional enough so that when we win we stay stable and when we lose, we analyse the reason why.”

Guardiola continued: “In Barcelona, for the last 15 years, they dominate possession the way they play.

“I love the way they play. I’m going to accept to win or to lose and the team will be judged by that but, I’m sorry guys, I’m never going to change the way I play football. It’s the only thing I have. I can make a lot of mistakes and be judged by many things, but I only have one power: my teams play the way I want. No regrets. Try to be optimistic for what is going to happen in the future.”

Ronaldo Feels Back To His Best

Three-time World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo insists he will have a “spectacular” season despite a slow start to the campaign caused by knee ligament damage.

Ronaldo was sidelined for two months by a sprained left knee ligament picked up during Portugal’s Euro 2016 final triumph over France, forcing him to miss Madrid’s first three games of the season.

He has scored just once in four La Liga games since making his return, but netted five times in Portugal’s routs over Andorra and the Faroe Islands in the past week.

“I had a serious injury. I was out for two months. Now I am back and at the start I has less confidence, but bit-by-bit I am feeling better and more confident. I feel that I am back to what I was,” Ronaldo told Madrid sports daily Marca on Friday.

“The season is very long and I am sure I am going to have another spectacular season.”

Ronaldo is expected to sign a bumper new contract with the European champions until 2021 in the coming days and reiterated his intention to retire in the Spanish capital after becoming the club’s all-time top goal scorer since joining from Manchester United in 2009.

Despite bagging two Champions League titles and winning the Ballon d’Or twice during his time with Real, Ronaldo has still only won one La Liga title in seven full seasons.

Zinedine Zidane’s men need to get back to winning ways at Real Betis on Saturday after three consecutive La Liga draws have seen them concede top spot to city rivals Atletico Madrid on goal difference.

However, with still a two-point lead over champions Barcelona, Ronaldo is convinced Madrid can end a five-year wait to win La Liga.
